Tell him you think it's a lovely name, but more suitable for the dog than for your daughter. He'll probably get the hint.

that's a quite call even with the indisputable fact that it truly is dated and Marie is oh, so overused. Even Alyssa is truly universal. i ought to %. a distinct center call once you're reason on making use of Alyssa or a distinct first call (some thing a lot less common) once you're reason on making use of Marie because the middle. solid luck.

I would have to wonder why he would want to name your child after his ex, but you say you like the name too. Try adding an additional name in between Alyssa and Marie, try Laura. Alyssa Laura Marie.

I would not name my daughter after my husbands ex-wife..of course my temper would probably get the better of me and I would tell him if he wanted a daughter with that name he could get pregnant and go threw labor to have the baby...tell him pick a different name.
It also sounds kinda morbid him wanting to name his own daughter after an ex-wife.

Whatever you do, DO NOT NAME your daughter after your husband's ex-wife.
Tell him there are a lot of pretty names that we can choose from that do not have any connection with ex-spouses.

I would have a problem with that too! No way, would I name her your husband's ex-wife's name! That just seems crazy on his part; how can he even go there!

I'm sorry but you must put your foot down, that is strange!
Do you have a son or plan to that he wants named after him? If so tell him it is only fair that you pick this one. My husband and I both had names we liked for you daughter and son, but we didn't consider any that both didn't like. Good Luck!
Really that's weird!

CRAAAAP!!!! Why did you leave this vital piece of information out?
Now I see the reason for your obtuse name choices.
Well, first off, he is totally wrong to suggest that. But I still say, choose a more feminine name.
