seeing that you might have a 3.1 in the se and you want to put a 3.8 gt in it?...before you do all that if the engine that you have now (in the se) is a 3.8 then you don't need changes (i had a se that had a 3.8). they all the same. Now if you were talking about getting a supercharged engine it will fit as long as you stay with that make and model, but do your homework though.

Depending on your state laws - you can not degrade a motor - so a 98 in a 99 vehicle - IF the vehicle came with other motor options youcan install that option but has to be the Year of the vehicle or newer , as per California Laws..

cost about 3 grand to do an engine swap

just get a V8 its cheaper
