i have been a fan since the beginning and i dont know where you hail from but i was lucky enough to see them at the 02 festival in Hyde Park on June 25th this year. They are still as fantastic as ever and their following is still as huge as ever. They are still touring every year and are still releasing albums and a lot of their songs have been remixed and many of them very well too. There is even an album of remixes. If you like you can mail me and i will contact you with a few web addresses where you can find information on Depeche Mode, tour dates,single/album releases etc...hope you catch up, theyre still great and Id still marry David Gahan any day,lol...he's a bloody genius and still has the coolest voice on the planet, good luck :0)

They're still around! They've just completed a massive tour, Touring The Angel, to promote their latest album, Playing The Angel. Also, in 2003, both Martin Gore and Dave Gahan completed solo albums, Counterfeit 2 and Paper Monsters, and did solo concerts and sngles. Andy Fletcher also did solo work with his record company Toast Hawaii, with the band Client, mixing their 2003 albums. So far they have released two 'recent' albums, in 2001 with Exciter (very good) and Playing the Angel.
The reason you've probably heard little from them is sheer media snobbery. Dave Gahan in particular suffered much criticism from the press after his drug overdose in early 1997, and his subsequent rehab meant that they kept a low profile for a while, and they recorded Ultra at this time too. Much of the criticism called Gahan a cheat, weak and basically trash- he was written off. They had also lost a member, Alan Wilder, who (supposedly) wanted to go solo, despite there were rumours that he had had several major disputes with Dave Gahan, which seemed to centre around his non-existent praise for his (Wilders) contribution, and the whole drug problem. There was also a problem for Martin Gore, who had lost a lot of money in some solo financial deals, and (if I remember correctly) a drink problem which had started after the Devotional tour.
However Ultra had much success, promoting a slightly harder rockier image. The tour also proved DM could survive as a trio, The tour also proved that the alcohol and drug problems were history, with a strict banning policy backstage and fairly quiet concerts. Exciter, the next album, has sold 2m copies, and PTAngel also gave them two top 10 singles, their 40th hit, and a top selling album.
So, to answer the question, yes, they're still alive (just!) and kicking. They plan a Best-Of later this year, and there is a rumour of another solo album from Dave Gahan.

Well, the had a new studio album called Playing The Angel out last year. Has done very well, and they've been on a world tour this year supporting the album.
They're releasing re-mastered versions of their albums this year, which is fantastic, and then there's a definitive best-of coming out in the next couple of months. So they've been very busy indeed, no sign of a slow-down from the Basildon boys!

They have done 2 concerts here in Budapest within the last year. They have a huge following in Hungary. They had a concert last October, and decided to come back in March because the first one was such a big sellout. Supported by Placebo, the gig was really good. Can't say I was their biggest fan, but really glad I went.

Funny this question came up as I'm listening to a song from Depeche Mode on my 80s mix CD.

i appreciate Depeche Mode! I oftentimes desire their fabric from the mid '80s to the late '90s, so my well-known albums have a tendency to be stuff like Violator and Songs of religion & Devotion. i imagine The Singles 86>ninety 8 is an exquisite much ideal decision of songs, even although they have more advantageous tremendous fabric previous that. I stated them in live performance back in 1998, and that i does no longer ideas seeing them back. i'm shocked you have not met many different DM followers, i have met extremely some those who like them, fantastically women.

I loved Depeche Mode. Dave Gahn is still going, I don't know about the rest. I met them once in 1988 in a bar in London. They were very 'starry' at the time.

I've not thought about Depeche Mode for years. Thanks for the reminder. That's the second time on Yahoo answers I've had a nudge to dig out great old albums.

They are also releasing a double live dvd + cd in the following month called "Touring The Angel" I suggest you check their website and check their releases. They have also been re-releasing all the past albums with bonus dvd's.

Well, they have new album out. It's been getting a lot of radio play in Europe but not so much in the states. I actually saw them in Houston last year or so.
