I WAs Wondering How Patti Labelle Became Mariah Carey's Godmom, Did Her Parents Know Patti Along Time Ago Or What?

Not sure but I believe Mariah is estranged from her father and was raised by just her mother who was a fairly famous opera singer and so probably had connections in the music business.

patti was not her godmother when she was young or anything. it was around 1997-00 that mariah carey called patti labelle her godmother after they met at an event, i believe it was diva's live. mariah and patti became very close and mariah always admired her. having been through the music business for a long time, patti is like the older figure who guides her, so that's why mariah references her as her godmother. in the end, it's just a title she calls patti. she's not officially a godmother on documents or anything.
