Yes. Not fixing it now could cause more expensive problems down the road. Also, if your car is smoking at all and a police officer sees it, you would be issued a ticket for it. Not to mention that you're spewing more pollution into the atmosphere.

You should know---
The code P0420 is indeed a code to inform that the PCM has detected a POSSIBLE failure in the catalyst efficiency.
It does not mean that the cat is NECESSARILY bad.
There are tests we run to determine if it is the cat, or if the SENSOR has failed.
If you don't have the Smog Machine with which to work, it is a bit difficult for you to run those tests. BUT you can test the sensor.
Before you spend much money just "Throwing Parts" under the hood, run the diagnostics.
Your car will fail it's emissions test in most (if not all) states if your "Check Engine" light is on.
Ask a Licensed Emissions Test facility and tech to test both the cat and the sensor. It could very well be that both are good, and the front sensor has gone to sleep or is just a little lazy.
Running the diagnostics could be the difference between a $150.00 repair and a $800.00 repair (NOT including the diagnostics charge).

Good Luck

ts proper there between your Valve conceal and intake...it seems form of like a black soda can with wires out of the suitable (purchase one on the vehicle parts save and then you'll understand what to seek for). also make confident you clean off any carbon strengthen around the position the EGR changed into put in.are not any further making any promisses that this can remedy the issue even with the indisputable fact that that's yet another section you could throw at your vehicle that has a more advantageous acceptable danger of changing the issue then merely attempting to conceal it up with a clean CAT.

To add to what was already said on testing and costs ---

Cat's provide positive pressure back to the valves (in part, the other components do to) -- if it is stopping up then you will get too much pressure, the car will start missing (if it runs at all) - to little pressure and the valves will 'burn' from lack of that pressure to help them close.

So.... I will agree that you need to lay out the money and get it tested, at a shop that CAN test it right.

Unless you are going through emissions you dont need the cat. If so,just install a new one or fix the old one somehow. Its easy

If the cat. is partially plugged it will hurt engine performance. If it gets to bad engine will start but won't run above an idle. It's your call.

your answer is no. The price of a catalytic converter alone would cost more than the hole muffiler system

It's a Honda....throw it away. Or trade it in. Good luck.
