Pampers Swadlers are the best. But to save money, and for a really good diaper, Parent's Choice from Wal Mart. Believe me, I have tried them all. At baby showers you get a wide variety. While I loved the Swadlers, they are just so expensive, but the parent's choice was my second favorite.

It's been several years now since my son was in diapers, but I always bought either Huggies or Luvs. Pampers are overpriced and horrible compared to others. I always felt they were no better than the generic diapers, except they were much more expensive. Huggies were great because they stretched and were more comfortable. We had a lot less problems with those. Luvs were also great....much cheaper than Huggies, but the only drawback was that they didn't stretch as much. My son was also incredibly allergic to the Pampers (and also allergic to diaper rash medicine), so that's the best reason for Huggies. I've never known anyone who's baby broke out using them.

Pampers--Huggies were fine too though. LUVS were completely terrible! They make great wipes but terrible diapers! We have used Pampers pretty much every day from day one, though we had to use preemie diapers for the first few months.
Let me just say this--we did a diaper test with all of the diaper brands. Pamper and Huggies ended up comparable in water management. Luvs failed. Huggies do run small, but they do a fairly good job of fitting the baby. Luvs leaks, and we've had more tabs come off just by trying to attach it to the diaper.
Pampers would be my vote!

Luvs and Huggies work very well -- especially use over night when your baby starts sleeping through, because if you don't use a quality diaper overnight, you're going to have one wet baby on the outside, and crib items/bedding.
We used to buy the cheaper brands, but my son has had a couple of experiences in the past where pee came out the front, and poop out the back once or twice because they don't fit well. The huggies/luvs stretch to fit so you don't have to worry about being too tight. Pampers and other bigger brands might work well too, but I've only had huggies/luvs and the cheap brands. The cheap ones are ok for daytime if you want to save some money.

Pampers Swaddlers!!! I am an in-home daycare provider and formerly worked in an infant...plus I have two kids...SO I have changed A LOT of diapers over the years and let me tell you there IS a difference! Pampers Swaddlers are what my one month old daughter wears and my son wore them 3 1/2 years ago also. They are hands down the best diaper out there, I won't use any other!!

When it comes to diapers, quality is all good, but you need to get the most for your money. The best diaper I found on the shelves was Kroger Comforts at Kroger Grocery store. I got 60 for $7.99 and they worked just as well as Pamper's or Huggies or Luvs, that you will NEVER pay $7.99 for in that quantity. I never had any problems with them leaking or tearing, either. Those 60 lasted me to the next paycheck (2 weeks) and the diaper wipes are really inexpensive, too and both are always on sale. As the baby wears bigger sizes, you will still get more for your money than with any other name brand diaper.

Pampers are the ansolute best diapers. They fit the best and I have never had a problem with leaks,
However, in a pinch, my next choice would be Huggies
Good luck

My wife insisted on cloth diaper service, and we've been quite happy with it. We use disposables when we travel, or are out and about the city. For disposables, we use Tushies (all-natural and non-chlorine bleached material). Our 4 month old has not had any diaper rash. We've also tried Luvs and Huggies, which work as well.
BTW, we are not granola/hippies. We just don't want our baby exposed unnecessarily to extra chemicals.

Pampers. They cost the same as Huggies, but Huggies leaked like crazy with my little girl (she's nearly 4 months old now). I got tired of getting peed on (and worse!) LOL so I'm a Pampers snob now. Store brand is ok but they're so stiff and papery...I don't see how they wouldn't chafe. Anyway there's my humble opinion. Congrats, by the way!
