is it best to land on your heel and roll forward, or land in the mid-foot area, or land on the ball of the foot at the front? i have heard that the way your foot lands when you run can cause shin splints so what is the best way to land so you don't get them?

If it is long distance running you should land on your heel and roll the foot. The more you do it the easier it will be. Good running shoes will also help with the shin splints. If you are sprinting I would have to say run on the balls of your feet. Shin splints occur from the way you land after each step. What you are doing is causing small tears in your shin. Most people develop shin splints when they first start running so don't get discouraged.

shin splints are caused by the muscle readjusting in between your shin bones , as far as i'm aware.

they have these new curved bottom shoes that supposedly help running style, but i always got shin splints in preseason traing, it was a matter of getting your legs used to excersice.

reckon if you land on your mid foot you'd just do your ankle damge

I think it is best to land on your heel and roll forward but the most important thing is to strech afterwards. you have some good streching exercises which you have to do if you don't want to get shin splints.
