Number of technicians=x ; helpers=y
x+y=17 ; y=17-x
x*210+y*185=3345
x*210+(17-x)*185=3345
25*x+3145=3345
x=8

let the wages of the technicians and labour be x and y respectively
the equations
210x+185y=3345
x+y=17
210x+210y=3570
subtracting
25y=225
y=9
substituting
x=8
so 8 technicians and 9 labour were employed
