You didn't state what cities for start and stop. So, ballpark figures are as follows: Example Dallas, TX to Santa Fe NM is only 634 miles. You could do this in 1 day. Pack some sandwiches and drinks and eat during the 'rest stop'. If you wanted to make this an overnight trip, this would include 1 night at hotel. This would range from $39 to $100 depending on your needs with the room.

Fuel: Take your cars' highway mileage and divide that into 634. This would give you approx gallons of fuel needed. Multiply this by price. If car gets 30 mpg, it would take 21 gallons. 21 x $2.50/gal = $53 in fuel. Add hotel stay if needed and snacks.

Looking at a ballpark of $200 one way.

Good luck on your adventure.
