It seems that our government thinks that terrorism can be defeated. What are their specific plans to get rid of terrorism? Because what they are doing now seems not to be working.

the only plan I have seen is: plant the seed of democracy in Iraq and keep it safe with about 150,000 US soldiers... then magically at some point.. democracy will flourish in the middle east when everyone sees how wonderful Iraq is...

what if Iraq elects religious extremists that are sympathetic to iran? well, apparently we'll cross that bridge when we get there... oh look, we're coming up on it now...
and what if it breaks out into a civil war?

basically it sounds like this to me...

step 1. Invade Iraq, establish democracy...

step 2. ?

step 3. end of terrorism

there seems to be a step or two missing?

and all they can say is "the democrats are crazy and stupid"...

mrcricket: who was in control on congress during all of the attacks? oh, I forgot, apparently congress is powerless... I didn't know that? and what did Republicans do prior to 9-11, with congressional control for 8 or so years and total government control for 8 months?
both parties failed us pre-9-11... Repubicans are clearly still failing us post 9-11...
you can use your scare tactics all you want... but in the end, what are the dems going to do? Not focus on catching Osama too?

I don't see a plan to get rid of terrorism. I think it will be something that generations to come will have to deal with.

Whoever is the next president will have a large mess from the last couple of administrations. If it is a Democrat, hopefully they won't give in to the whims of the leaders that want to see our destruction for the sake of pleasing Europe and the Mideast.

The problem is that you can't defeat an ideology simply by force, we need to be clever about it. We're losing the propaganda war, and that's pathetic. Our own media is working against us. I'm not sure what the answer is but it's going to be a long long war. Hell, just nuke'm...kidding!

Why do you all insist on blaming democrats and saying they will surrender. You do realize that Islamic terrorism was around since long ago. What did Reagan do when Hezbollah bombed the army barracks in Beirut and killed 241 service men...he pulled out of Beirut, he did nothing! Islamic terrorists were at play and growing during democratic and republican administrations. Quit being so naive and narrow minded.

Most of the posters are very pessimistic.. and continue to live in their own dream world.. The dems were in power when most of the terrorist activities were taking place.. nothing was ever done.. wonder how they all of a sudden can come up with some plan when in reality they don't do anything to prevent attacks or, create retribution against those who perpetrate them. I don't consider bombing a pharmaceutical plant as one of retribution.

Your question regarding revealing the plan to you would be as devastating as the leaks previously given to damage the gaining of intelligence.. If you knew what the plan was, so would the terrorists. Try thinking before posting such a question.

Bush has said many times that his plan is to have a long war. He never said he's going to get rid of terrorism, without that he can't have a long war.

Our current Administration has never had any such plan. Hopefully future administrations can plan to deal better with preventing any terrorism in the US.

What we are doing now has prevented other nine-elevens. I think that's a pretty good track record.

You have a US Congressman (D) trying to build an Interstate HIway from border to border and let the Mexican Army controll it.

Do you think voting Democrat is going to make your more or less safe?
