After six weeks on the patch today is my last day. Will I quit the tobacco monkey for good this time? The last time I quit after a year, the monkey jumped on me the day I was going to Iraq

Well going to Iraq might make a monkey jump on anyone's back. I think you will make it this time. Now if I could just get my husband to try. I don't nag though because I knew he smoked when I married him.

I have only ever quit smoking for 9 days in about 20 years. I was on the patch. It fell off while I was on a "pub crawl" and wound up on the bottem of my shoe. I couldn't take it. I lit up. I've never gone longer than 24 hours without a cigarette since then. If you've made it six weeks, kudos to you. If you made it through Iraq intact, I have a feeling you can shake the smokes. Good luck.

Temptation is a powerful fiend. Do you have willpower? Smoking feels good. But I guarentee that you'll die from it, 100%. Unless you really think this "monkey" can relieve your stress, It's no better than dying out there in Iraq.
Just trick yourself. Someone had to die for me to realize that. I'm never looking back.

The patch would have been nice. I had a choice of cold turkey or nicotine flavored gum. Needless to say…I quit cold. You can do this. The patch is done with you…now you must be done with cigarettes.

Yeah, you will make it ...you were well on your way until having to go into war ....and i think that is as good of a reason as any to need to light up .....so that was completely understandable.
