HRT can indeed cause such symptoms, so can electrolytic imbalance. Anxiety also has been known to cause such sensations. Actually, come to think of it, so can allergic reaction.

These are fascinating symptoms. Of course, you must consult a doctor. One possible explanation is Fabry's Disease. I don't suppose you have cloudiness in one or both of your corneas, yet another symptom of this disease, do you? Fabry's Disease is a genetic fat storage disorder.
My advice? Consult a doctor.
