i have some physic questions about the law of conservation of matter and physical properties of water.

1. How does the distillation process apply to the Law of Conservation of Matter?

2. What are some physical properties you could use to describe a liquid?

1. The Law of conservation of matter says that matter cannot be created or destroyed, it can only change form. Distillation involves changing the forms of different types of matter (from a liquid to a gas) in order to seperate them.

2. Physical properties of water ae thie retention of volume, their ability to conform to the shape of their container, etc.
Physical properties used to describe a specific liquid would be denisty, melting point, boiling point, pH, etc.

Well, distillation involves separating a mixture of 2 or more components based on their different boiling points. The recovered components will always sum up to give the same quantities present in the original mixture. That is, for each component, atoms in = atoms out.

Some liquid properties include density, viscosity, surface tension, vapor pressure as a function of temperature, thermal conductivity and heat capacity.

Distillation process changes the phase of matter, it does not destroy it.

to remove impurities is not to erase them. they are still there just merely separated now.
