The basics are, I haven't had a period since 5th July. I was never exactly regular but it was never away this long. We've been trying for a baby for quite a while but with no success. The thing is, I've taken a pregnancy test which was negative but i've been feeling really tired. My boobs are sensitive and im running to the loo alot. I started spotting 2 days ago and thought it was my period starting but its just a light discharge. Whats going on??? Anyone have any ideas... I hate doctors!! x

I think you need to go to the doctors incase their is something else going on. I hate doctors too, but please go just to be on the safe side.

It could be a number of things, some silly others serious.

Be sure to go and get checked.

All the best.

This happened to me too although this wasn't the plan, I had started a new pill and had missed a couple. Because I hadn't taken it religiously I was all to pot! I realised in the April that I hadn't had a period since the January and did some tests. All Negative. I flew to Tenerife, went scuba diving and all sorts of things you probably shoudn't do, including drinking and smoking too much (now given up both). Went to the doctors and had their tests too which are acctually less accurate than the ones you can buy in the shops, all came back negative. My clothes got tighter, I was tired, eating loads and still got negative results. In the end I went to the doctors and said 'well if I'm not pregnant then what am I because I'm so tired I could pass out!'. They did 1 more test to be sure I wasn't pregnant and low and behold, I was! I went for a dating scan 2 weeks later to discover i was 18 weeks pregnant. I'd acctually caught in the March whilst I was wondering if I should still take the pill as I may already be pregnant! Ooops! This can happen and we're not alone. You can get a false negative result and never a false positive. Get some early detection tests off a pharmacutical website. You can get 10 little sticks in a box for about £10, free postage too, most of them. These tests are something like 99.6% accurate. If it comes up negative give it another week and do another. The doctors surgery will not do anything until you are classed as 6 weeks or more so I'm not sure where that leaves you but it must be at least 6 weeks since your last period. Don't forget that you can also brainwash your body in to thinking you are even if your not. A friend of mine didn't have a period for 2 months, was regular as you like until then and is again now but just nothing for 2 months. She had been trying and maybe she wanted it so badly that she thought she was. Anyway, now I've rambled enough. Good luck and I hope everything works out ok. Oh, and don't worry about the spotting if you are pregnant, it's quite common, so long as that's all it is, spotting. Take it easy. x

Since you've never had a normal cycle, answering this might be a little difficult, but I'll try my best. It is very possible that you are pregnant even with a negative pregnancy test. That is not uncommon. It all depends on how soon you took it and how many you took. Usually it is a good idea to take two or three, in order to get a more certain result. Light spotting during pregnacy is also typical, as are your other symptons but it could also mean something more serious. I know that you said you hate doctors but I really recommend seeing one. If you are pregnant, this is the best possible thing for you and you baby. I've included some good websites for you to look at too about pregnany tests and symptons. Good luck with everything!

Sometimes home pregnancy tests don't show up with some people. You should go in for a blood test which would be the most accurate way of knowing if you are pregnant. You might hate doctors but if there is some underlying issue why you haven't had a period you might want to fix the problem so you are able to conceive. Have you heard of endometriosis? Look it up on the Internet for signs and symptoms. But honestly the best bet is the doctor, spotting could mean many things especially if you are pregnant..Girl you have to be smart and make the apt. you will feel a lot better.

Might be preggers, might not. Not all tests are positive (as you can see below + I've had the same joke, the two and a half year old answer is sitting next tome with a stinking cold).
Feeling like you've got pegs attached on the end of your boobs is usually a big giveaway, but you might also get this at ovulation time and just before periods.

Fingers crossed -that's if you want a baby that is!-

You need to see the doctor as soon as possible and you need to make a fuss about it. Any bleeding during pregnancy can be dangerous. My periods are not regular and a few years ago I was pregnant without knowing. I only realised when I started spotting. I did not see a doctor straight away and ended up having an emergency operation because of an ectoptic pregnancy. Even at hospital they tried to send me away saying that I was not pregnant, but I insisted that I felt pregnant. I consider myself lucky to be alive because my fallopian tube had already burst by the time I was on that operating table. But you need to be firm if you want further investigation done. It's your body and you would know if things aren't right.

Good luck.

If you hate doctors then you will have a difficult time being pregnant. You symptoms sound like pregnancy and sometimes mild bleeding isn't all that terrible...but it could also be the start of problems with the pregnancy. Do the right thing and go to the doctor or get yourself a mid wife.

Although you hate doctors, if your trying for a baby anyway you'd better get used to regular checks.
Visit your GP, It could be that your test is incorrect - try doing another.
Another factor is that you could be stressing yourself out that much over trying for a baby that your periods have stopped. Stress can also cause fatigue & strange eating habbits.
Either way im afraid the only way to know for sure is to go to your doctor & let the proffesionals take care of it.
If your not pregnant at least he/ she can give you some steady guidance.
Good Luck

There is such thing as false negatives, but never false positives, so I would get another test. I like the ones with a digital display.

If you ARE pregnant, you'd be about 11wks and the spotting that you're having could be what's called implantation bleeding. I experienced this when I was pregnant with my son.

As soon as you get a positive test, make an appointment to see an ob/gyn. I hate doctors too, but it's important for both and baby to be checked on.

Good luck!

some people do get negative tests as the hormone level is not strong enough, either do another home test or go 2 the doctors...it does sound like u r pregnant and spotting is common in early pregnancy....good luck
