Yes, as I look at the nightly news, I worry quite a bit about that happening. But the real question is: Would he call himself King George, or El Presidente-for-Life George?

It's possible, though I think there might be some Constitutional guarantee against such action. I agree with others who have said there would probably be widespread resistance to that. However, I disagree with the urgency they feel it would take on. If an attack happened on election day, or was threatened to take place, the President would actually be smart in ordering the election date changed for the safety of the public. If he moved it a week or two or something like that, I don't think folks would really get too uptight about it.

I am unaware of a lot of the US laws but here is my guess - they would need an emergency to suddenly come up in order to justify it and it would have to be a big enough emergency to stop or seriously interfere with the election process itself.

If a terror attack took out a candidate or two at say a debate then they would have to start part or all of the process all over again ....Bush would be "forced" to stay on until the democratic process could be completed ....

A Presedential order on it's own would never fly.there would have to be an attack or an assasination to go along with it

You don't have to worry, the president does not have the authority to do that. The only way that it COULD be done is if the entire congress voted to change the constitution. If they all fell down and hit their heads and decided to do that , their would be a revolt by the people!

I worry that someone as ignorant as you can vote and drive a car. At least I assume you can. Maybe your parents recognized your disability and don't let you out of the house.

I'm not worried about this however if we are attacked again I think Bush may consider doing this. His administration does not deal with reality too well. If this was to happen I believe there will be a backlash from the people.

It will never happen. Don't worry I have two candidates lined up and I might run a third party this time to weaken the Left.

I have heard that Bush has plans in place for this. I don't believe that congress would ever let it happen, it is a concern; not a worry.

I don't worry about things that are already in the works to happen and there is nothing we can do about it.
