Slap and pluck? Can't go wrong with Red Hot Chili Peppers. For great tunes on a bass try some of Metallica's bass solos like Anasthesia (Pulling Teeth) or Anthrax "got the time" has a great slap'n'pluck solo in the middle of it. Enjoy!

Mr. Bungle has some pretty decent riffs, also Muse, occasionally. Classic rock generally doesn't have too many hard lines, but alternative can, and industrial, if the bass is real... It also depends on what you have to play on - a 5 string? a 7 string? Leave me a comment at my blog below and I'll see what I can come up with. My Ken Smith is just a 4 string, and I don't do a lot of complicated stuff other than harmonics, hammering, and finding tone in weird places.

Try some Red Hot Chilli Peppers for some funky but not too taxing bass lines. Something like 'Higher Ground'

Chic mate. "Good Times" is possibly the best bassline ever written and is a must for any bass player.

White Stripes - Seven Nation Army. The whole tune is a bass line, and it sounds relatively simple to me.

Theme from Seinfeld, or Barney Miller, or Night Court.
