why is my uterus so big?

i am 17 weeks pregnant and my uterus is the size it should be at 9 months. why would this be

I assume a doctor told you this? If so, he should also have given you some idea why. If you assume this because your belly is huge, I doubt that the uterus is huge, I suspect you have quite the layer of fat over it.
