For your poinsettias to flower and develop their red coloured leaves....
they have to be in a place that is completely dark for at least 8 hours every night... The darker the better, a closet would be perfect if you can move the pot they're in... If you cannot do this, cover them with a black plastic bag....put it on at nghtfall, and remove it when you get up.. If you do this from late october, by christmas you should have some beautiful poinsettias!

You buy them red. They have white ones now, but most poinsettias are red by nature.
