My solution (if correct) is
3x + 4y = 8
4y/4=(-3x+8)/4
2^2y/2^2=(-3x+8)/2^2
y= (-3x+8)/2^2
y= (-3x+8)/4
y= -(3/4)x+8

a) y = (3/4)x + 2

b) 6x + 8y = 16

c) y = -(3/4)x + 8

d) 3x - 4y = 8

I see the equation as letter "c", but do not understand the inequality question.

"Inconsistent equations" are equations that have no points in common. This means that if you graphed the two equations, they would never intersect. If you're talking about linear equations in 2 variables, all inconsistent equations are parallel lines. (meaning that the equations have the same slope but different y-intercepts.)

As to the work you show, you actually made a mistake in the last line. You didn't divide the 8 by the 4. The equation should be
y = -(3/4)x + 2

Ok , so let's see which of the answers is actually inconsistent with the original equation.

Answer "a" does not work because it doesn't have the same slope as the original equation, so those lines will intersect.

Answer "b" does not work because it is actually the same equation as the original equation (divide the equation in "b" by 2, and you'll see that it is the same equation).

Answer "d" does not work, because it has a different slope than the original equation.

The answer is "c" because it has the same slope as the original equation but a different y-intercept. Therefore the line for "c" is parallel to the line for the original equation, and there are no points of intersection. Therefore the equations are inconsistent.

Your solution is incorrect. And the one I posted originally was also incorrect.

If you multiply both sides of the original equation by 2, you get answer (b).

3x + 4y = 8

2(3x + 4y) = 2(8)

6x + 8y = 16

----
I will add that you also have a mistake in your last step:

y= (-3x+8)/4
y= -(3/4)x+2 (correct)

you have to divide both terms (-3x) and (8) .... by 4.

You made a mistake. In going from the penultimate line to the last line, you forgot to divide the constant 8 by 4 to get 2. The solution is y = -(3/4)x + 2, and it's not given among the choices you listed.

2(2m + 3) - 8 > 4m + 2 4m + 6 - 8 > 4m + 2 4m - 2 > 4m + 2 -2 > 2 pretend, so there is not any answer ************** Plug in all the area values for x and discover the corresponding y values. those y values are the decision. x = -3 then y = -17 x = -a million then y = -7 etc. So the answer looks c.
