My boyfriend just confessed to me that he's been smoking weed behind my back. I knew he smoked way back in the beginning of our relatioship. Then he convinced me that he quit 2 years ago. He confessed today because he feels really bad that he'd been lying to me (so he says). I know it could be worse, but I feel betrayed. What should I do?

He told me he wont do weed anymore. He said he didnt want to lose me. We invested 5 years into this (his words). It really sounded like he meant it.

Yes, I think you should forgive him, after all he has admitted it and he feels bad about having lied to you. You should however try to persuade him to stop, arm yourself with all the negative medical evidence you can find about it, apart from being a stepping stone to much harder drugs it can also lead to mental illnesses such as schizophrenia. Good luck.

Why is this such a big deal. I know the lying is bad but the under laying problem is you are trying to change him. If he likes to smoke and is obviously a functioning member of society why can't you love him ether way? There is a big difference between a stoner and smoking a bowl with friends every once and a while. I think the question is, is this a big enough deal to lose your boyfriend over? If so, then get ever it and move on. It wasn't meant to be. If not, get over it and stop trying to run everybody life. Be happy you have a boyfriend.

just sit down and talk to him about what u think and if ur hurt about this then let him know. if he dont quit smoking weed after u have talked to him about it then leave him that just mean that the weed is more important than u.

I dont think you should forgive him right away. its impossible to MAKE YOURSELF forgive him, but i DO think you should try to work it out. think about why he lied :because he didnt want to lose you. A better way to do that would have been to just stop but he was being selfish and wrong. He felt guilty about it, so hes obviously a good guy. I dont think you should try to make him quit though, tell him you dont like it and that you would rather him not do it and/or dont wanna be around it. but its not your place to stop it.

All I say is that's al ong time to throw away- but it'll be an even longer to stay with the wrong choice. Can his adiction be overcome? Can you sleep at night knowing this? do you still trust him?
