It could be nothing at all it is common for some women to spot when pregnant. It could be that this is when she would have had her period in which case spotting brown or red is very common. However brown spotting and cramping are signs of an ectopic pregnancy. This is when the egg is implanted outside of the uterus, usually in a fallopian tube. Other symptoms are bleeding, nausea (which can be hard to tell with morning sickness), dizziness, shoulder pain and rectal pressure. Just to make sure she should call her doctor and try to get an appointment for as soon as possible. It is probably nothing but better to be safe than sorry. Good luck.

Yes cramping is normal I just had a baby in Feb. and to my surprise I was in pain for the hole 37 weeks I was carring him. I was surprised because this was my 3 child and I never had that kind of pain in my other two pregnancies.
She should also go to a Dr. she could be having problem but it also could be nothing but a Dr will know what to do.

New blood is bright red & old blood is brown. It could just be blood from where the embryo impanted itself.
The cramping pain is a different story. Along with everyone else, I would say to get it checked out. She will experience a lot of different pain throughout her pregnancy whilsy her body changes & the baby grows, but it is always better to be safe than sorry.
Good luck :-)

It's not normal for only 9 weeks so, take her to the Dr. if she's cramping real bad she might be having a miscarriage. Good luck and hope it's nothing and I wish you the very best of luck

Some spotting can be normal but cramping could simply be the uterus stretching or possibly a sign of miscarriage. Tell her to call the doctor ASAP.

This is something she needs to call her Dr about. Sometimes spotting is normal but NOT when it is accompanied by cramping. This is a sign of miscarriage. Call doc. or take it upon herself (like i did) and go to the hospital. They will give her an ultrasound.

she might be miscarrying. But the only way to know for sure, is to go to the hospital. But do not get totally woried because I bleed until I was 20 weeks pregnant. Wait and see what the doctor says.
good luck

brown spotting can be normal as long as she isn't having sharp pains or cramping. But to be on the safe side I would tell her to call her OB/Gyn. They might want her to come in. Good Luck
