If so, this means the naming of a thing or action by a vocal imitation of the sound associated with it (as buzz, hiss)

It is a literary device where the poet uses a combination of words to create the sound of the object being discussed. Poe was famous for using this device in his poem, "The Bells." In each stanza he is speaking about a type of bell, and the words he uses are supposed to create the sound of the bell.
