Yes, you should feel guilty. there is no excuse for domestic violence.
Was there an agreement between the two of you to be exclusive?
If not, then you have no reason to be angry.
If there was You have every reason to be upset. and He has no excuse for Cheating.
exclusive agreement or not, Common Sense and Good Manners should have led him to realize that what he did is shameful.
No Gentleman would "Hook up" with another person while dating someone else. and that would apply to Women also.
In the good ol days we called them "Ladies"
People who cheat like this are selfish cowards who are looking only to gratify their own physical satisfaction. They really don't care about other people, no matter how much they protest that they do. That makes them Liars, to you and to Themselves.
Ask him to forgive you for hitting him. and then Tell him he owes you an apology for cheating. Then...Dump his butt and find someone worthy of YOU. who will treat you with RESPECT.

You are lucky that he doesn't press assault charges on you. Regardless of what he did...you have no business striking another person. Sure, you were enraged by his actions...but that doesn't mean that you should choose violence as a resolution. Perhaps a widely circulated e-mail among your mutual acquaintances would've been better revenge.
"Notice: As of 9/21/06, Mr. ________ & I are no longer a couple because he chose infidelity over a commited relationship. Please feel free to contact him with any questions about this matter."
You take the high road, and he winds up looking like the heel that his is. Move on without him. No one deserves to be cheated on.

Why slap? I much prefer some well-aimed roofing nails.
And don't be hateful to the b****, she probably didn't even know about you---the best revenge would be to buy her a drink and let him see the two of you out together, talking and laughing.

I sure wouldn't feel guilty for that. However, if you are under 21, you have to expect that ind of thing, since most kids don't know what they want in a mate.

Yes, you should feel guilty
No, it does not count as an excuse.
Domestic violence is a serious problem and the campaign to stop men beating their wifes centres around "there is no excuse". What's sauce for the goose......

Just don't be mad when he slaps you back...women are under the illusion that they can strike a man and not get hit back.
I would have just laughed at him and walked away. Slapping them just helps their ego. Walking away says...I dont care, you suck anyway.
