As a partner in a karaoke business, we have explored all avenues. So far, buying the karaoke cdg's at places like Walmart, Best Buy, FYE, etc is the least expensive way. Most of the good computer programs cost between $400 and $1000, and then you still have to have the music to put in them.

In short, we have found no way for a cheap/free karaoke library. Keep your eye on the local papers, sometimes someone upgrading or getting out of karaoke will sell their whole collection for a steal, but you pretty much have to fall into a deal like that. And if you are going to do karaoke publicly, you also need speakers, microphones, a sound board, etc. If you find a way, please post it! There are those of us who would be very interested!
