Sounds like my factory GM rims, which means you just have rust particles stuck to them. Spray Simple Green on a cool dry rim, brush with a soft bristle brush and water, rinse clean. Apply Mothers Mag and Aluminum Polish and buff to a shine.

use some rubbing compound on the areas that have gotten rust stains on them. This should leave the paint in good condition and still shiny. It is a mild abrasive and is usually red and comes in a red round container. Use that and a lint free cloth to apply it and to rub the stain away.

How are your rims rusting if they are Aluminum, and painted?

Or do you have rust stains from the lug nuts?

If its stains, try some good polish (Never Dull) and see if that will clean it.

get some good quality metal wool, then scrub it off using some vegetable oil.

i recommend Amway Scrub Buds--i use them and it's the only brand i know that you can rub on thin nylon pantyhose without ripping them, so i know it'lll be gentle enough on your rims. www.quixtar.com if you live in N. America, otherwise email me and I'll find out how you can get it.

afterwards, wash off the oil (i recommend LOC multipurpose cleaner) and polish it with Amway Metal Cleaner (both also available through Quixtar).

good luck!

Turtle Wax chrome polish will remove minor rust. If it has pitted, you will need to have them replated.
