We had this problem too and we just increased the food during the day, instead of one big tea we gave some at dinner and then at tea....bit of trial and error but once you've figured out what they need then they'll go back to it. Or it could be the amount of sleep they have in the day, maybe get them to have their afternoon nap a little earlier.

Unless they just want a cuddle and then you'll have to let me know what the answer is as my youngest does this sometimes.....good luck.

I would first keep track of how long the baby is up throughout the day. I would recommend having the baby stay up at least 4 to 5 hours before bedtime. This way they are very tired. About an hour before bed i would give a soothing warm bath and after the bath mix cereal and formula (or warm milk) together and then i would put some thing under the babys sheet (under the sheet so he/she cannot get a hold of it during sleeping), to pad the bed a little, make it a tiny bit softer. If they are relaxed from the bath and tummy is content from the food and more comfortable during sleep, then chances are he/she will sleep a lot longer than usual.

My son started sleeping through the night at around two months at around five months he started waking up during the night. The doctor said during growth spurts that they get hungry more often and to give him some baby cereal in the evening as well as in the morning.

If your child has not been introduced to the baby cereal try it very liquidy so that it is just a little more solid than the milk and you get your baby use to the spoon. If you add some to the bottle it tends to get stuck in the nipple but if you have a little bit of a larger hole and sit with him/her the liquid to go through, it works just as well as with a spoon.
(with the larger hole I didn't feel comfortable leaving my son alone with the bottle at five months.)

Good Luck and I hope you get a good night sleep soon.

5 months old is a little young to be sleeping through the night. Try feeding cereal in the evening but not in the bottle.. Makes sure he or she has a dry bottom when they go to sleep at night.. make sure the room temperature is good as well.. give it time. He or she will sleep through when their belly can hold enough food for the night

To get your 5 month to sleep through the night is difficult but it can be done. When she/he wakes up at night don't pick him/her up he/she will eventually go back to sleep. If you pick him/her up he/she'll continue to get up. the only time you should pick him/her up is if the crying is too much . If the crying is too much for you than every night you should wait a few minutes and each night add another minute maybe that might work. You coming into the room will show him/her that your still there. Good luck.

My 7 month old still is up 4 times a night. I don't think you can until they are ready, feeding food before bed sometimes work, but not always. Good luck!

5 months is a little soon to expect a baby to sleep through the night. Just try to nap during the day with the baby and hang in there, it does get better!

You have to let her/him cry it out. I know it sounds awful but it works and it will not hurt the baby. After 15 minutes, if she is still crying go in and just check on her and let her know you are still there. But, don't get her out of bed. She will go to sleep. After a few days of this, she will be fine and will learn how to soothe herself.

I did this with my son and he gets into bed and is fine. He doesn't cry and hardly ever gets up at night.

Read this book for more details. It is great!!! "Baby Wise" The link to info on amazon.com is below.

Is your baby breast fed? if so my answer is you don't . Second what is your definition of sleeping trough the night? If your baby is sleeping 6 hours a least honey{as a mother of 2} that's it. that's through the night.
