I've had loads of boring jobs in factories, farms, building sites etc.

The best boring job was watching frozen chips (French fries) go by on a conveyor belt and picking out the black or green ones (I could talk to the women on the other side of the belt).

The worst are when there's nobody near enough to talk to. The worst of all are when it's hard, heavy work too and you have to keep to the machine's pace - like picking up 50kg bags of flour from the end of the conveyor belt and dumping them in turn on a pallet. Miss one while you're dragging a new pallet and you have to step on it and bend lower to grab the next one, making it harder, until it gets impossible and there's a pile of broken sacks on the floor at the end of the conveyor and the whole place has to come to a halt. That's so embarrassing you do ANYTHING to be a perfect robot...

I believe I can. After i finished my GCSE's I got some agency work in a factory. For over four weeks, for 9 hours a day I picked up a piece of wood from a box at the side of me and placed in on a conveyor belt, over and over again. Thats all I did, all day. I lost wieght and became ill with the boredom and strain but my dad said it was all "character building" amd I couldn't give it up.

I was working at a temp company and one of the jobs they sent me to was at a shampoo company. I spent 8 hours a day putting the cap on shampoo bottles. Well actually I was not by myself, there were 4 of us. So I put the cap on every 4th bottle of shampoo. Sometimes one would fall over and we would have to stop the line to clean it up. There were times when I would pray one would fall over just to do something new to do for a minute.

I spent one month sitting at a table with 1 other girl taking staples out of time cards for companies, we couldn't even put them in order, only take the staples out. We had to do this 8 hours a day.

I made body-bags in a factory

I think the day that I got my finger tip crushed in the machine was a subconscious way of getting myself out of there that day (it looked worse than it was)

I do not know if it beats yours but I think it is at the least a tie

Passing out laundry detergent coupons in a not very busy grocery store.
AAaaaahhhhh! I was tucked in the detergent isle for 3 days. NO one to talk to, nothing to look at but soap. (not allowed to read on the job)
blah!
