I just got out of an intense two-year relationship. I go to college and he went to my college until he transferred. This was my 1st hardcore relationship let alone my first gay relationship. I feel like I'm going through the motions. I get lonely very easily and I tend to stay in my room instead of going out and meeting people. I'm kinda hurt mostly and friends that would have listened to me have transferred as well, so I'm kinda alone. The worst thing about it is that I use to be a lively person and now I'm just...blah. So I just want to stop, to stop hurting, to stop missing him. I wanna know how am I suppose to deal?

Your feelings are normal, so don't fret. This is a recent breakup and you just need time to recover.

You already know that you need to get out more and meet new people but you just aren't ready to that yet.

Here's how you deal : Spend a small amount of time every day remembering what it was that broke you up, all the negative things he did to drive you crazy, and then get angry. That will help.

You'll probably never get over him, but you will get past him.

Good luck!

Unfortunately, time is the main factor here. Just like your body getting over a cold, your heart has to get over being without someone for a while. Try not to spend too much time indulging in thoughts about how much you miss him and how you wish you were with him etc. Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened. I'm sure he taught you a lot, and you are most likely changed in positive ways and have grown as a person because of your experience. Try to think about all the other amazing people out there that are waiting for you to discover them; you probably have a lot to share with other people too- don't spend too much time nursing your wounds! Best of luck.

give yourself a little bit of time. say for the next week, you're allowed to keep moping. after that, get back out there! there are tons of people to meet and lots of fun to have. ...even if you are single
