the opportunities here are incredible. all you need is an education and BAM! you've got it made. sure, you might not become that actress you've always dreamed of or the doctor your parents wanted you to be, but you have the opportunity to succeed. it's all at your fingertips. look at the amazing scholarships here. you can get a scholarship for being just about anything. and even then, the jobs here are pretty good. the united states has a fairly low unemployment rate too, especially in comparison to our european counterparts. and speaking of comparison to other countries, the united states is all about your "rights" and being "free". you have to rememeber that some countries restrict their people's freedoms. look at communist china. in the united states, we can protest anything! it's like thomas jefferson said in the declaration of independence. we have the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
in other words, there is no one holding you back in america. thus, it is the land of opportunity.

Because despite all of its problems, America is still a pretty darned good place to live. It's not a perfect country; there is no such thing. There are more opportunities here than there are in many other countries. If this isn't the land of opportunity, to what other nation would you give that title?

Because when they called us that we had more jobs for people. We have the freedom that some other countries don't even get the opportunity for freedom. Without opportunity we would be like every one Else and have to fight for freedom and the rights that we have now.

Because if you apply your self and are of reasonable intelligence you have a great chance of success. This may seem like a lame answer.

But the key to success in the USA of setting goals (way ahead of time - when you are young) and staying the course.

Because there is a lot of available capital to start a business and relative to more socialist places it's easier to start a business. Plus we spend more money than any place in the world.

I've always wondered that myself. I was born here and I have never been able to find a good job. And I'm a white male that got nearly straight As in school.

it all a LIE!!!!! hasnt someone ever called you hott? same thing, they call america the land of oppertunity. although it is pretty oppertune considering we are letting half of the world over here for free...

go to afganastan or iraq or iran and live for 2 years and see if you can't find the answer there oh while you are at it try mexico
