THE CLasH These guy were genuine punk, even when joe strummer got near the end he was punk, the sex pistols are pop, there manufactured, the clash had more of a cause the pistols were trying to be a cause.

It has to be the Sex Pistols. They were the indisputable kings of Punk Rock. The influenced so many other great bands... they were more than a group, they were an attitude... they lived the punk dream.
I only regret the crazy **** Sid pulled in killing Nancy then Himself. He was more the Pistols than Johnny Rotten even though he was a comparative latecomer to the band.

Johnny Rotten
Steve Jones
Glen Matlock
Paul Cook
Sid Vicious

And........

Wally Nightingale
Del Noones
Stephen Hayes
Jim Mackin
Steve New
Nick Kent

Long Live the Memory of the greatest Punk Band of all time...

"Ladies and Gentlemen... I give you... The Sex Pistols........"

The Sex Pistols. They were real working class, not mock working class as a fashion style. They self-destruucted and pretty much invented punk as a style.
The Clash only really made one punk album and it wasn't a particularly good example of the genre.
The Clash were a good band, but they weren't really a punk band at all.

Tough call but in the end I'd have to give to The Clash. Very early Clash, not crap like "Rock the Casbah" dance stuff.

The Sex Pistols were a total fabrication by a smart enterpreneur that unwittingly turned into a music /fashion statement.

The Clash did it all on their own. That was the point of original punk rock.

the sex pistols they sang about anarchy and bringing the country to its knees where as the clash sung about politics and whats wrong in the world.

anyone who thinks white riot is a racist record dont know what the hell there on about.

i love the clash best band ever for me and tell me this did you ever see the clash on top of the pops ? no you did not cos they were there own identity and anti establishment. tho mick jones did (i think ) with B.A.D.much later.
