A gap year is generally a year out between school and university but many often take a year out between university and work also. There are many companies such as the one who's website you have been to who basically organise the trip for you. This will generally involve some form of volunteering overseas and other backpacking activities. While this is good, they often charge a lot of money so I would suggest you find somewhere you want to go and organise your own trip using guide books, people's advice etc. You could also contact a volunteer agency directly. It is much more of an adventure this way and you know that you have done it yourself! Either way, I'd totally recommend taking a year out to do some travelling. Good luck!

Well I have 2 guesses what you are talking about 1 Someone who was born on Feb. 29 th or 2 There was a year or two way back maybe the thirties the people who were born then are only eligible for a reduced amount of social security? If it is anything else I don't have a clue.

A "Gap Year" is a fairly generic name for a year off. Generally this applies to a gap between college and Uni or a year off in Uni but not always.

They didn't really do gap years when I was young, we used to do stuff like work in hotels or holidays camps for a season, I worked in a hotel for 9 months in Great Yarmouth, loved it and had a fantastic time, that was as close to a gap year that I ever got to.
