if your serious about playing the guitar you shouldnt stop like someone else suggested. you will need to keep playing to build the callus"s on your finger tips. after they develop the strings wont hurt anymore. if you stop playing now you will feel the same thing later, when you start playing again.

Strange question.
If your finger tips are sore on your left hand (assuming that you are right handed) while learning any guitar
try dipping them in surgical spirit which will harden them very quickly.
If they get very RAW then take a day off for them to heal. They will harden very quickly.

Buy some finger picks and/or as already suggested, use surgical spirits. Though don't dip your fingers into it ;-) it'll dry your cuticles out. Use cotton wool to apply to the finger pads.

Couple of days break and you will be sorted. As long as you play for an hour a week after that the pain will not come back

it'll go away after a short time, you'll develop hard patches on the ends of your fingers. In the meantime, if it hurts, stop!
