They control the Executive, Legislative and Judicial branches of government. They have the power to do just about anything they want, and have exercised that power for the last several years. If we fail in our war on terror and lose control of Afganistan and Iraq to the terrorist, shouldn't they get all the blame?

But Bow Hunter, what good are ideas (and the Dems have had plenty, like doubling the security at our ports) when they are voted down by the majority each time?

Pool God, you are right about the vote, but in reality, the war in Iraq is being directed primarily by the Secretary of defense, Donald Rumsfelf, a Republican, and he has gone against the recommendations of many Pentagon Generals aking for more troops on the ground. The buck stops here.

I think they've forfeited the right to point fingers at anyone else. It reminds me of the recent Doonesbury strip (link below) where Mark asks Chase why the Republicans are still so angry when they have everything they want, then suggests that they need enemies, real or imagined, to justify their actions. Of all the imagined enemies, the Democrats have posed the smallest threat, but the Republicans keep trying to pin the blame for everything on them. This is a transparent scheme to hold onto power.

I think another source of the anger is that, even with all of this control, they're still not improving the country as they thought they would. Rather than admit that they supported the wrong candidate, Republican voters just grow more and more angry and stubborn because anything else would mean admitting that they were wrong. It's just like the old story of the emperor's new clothes. No Republican wants to be the first to admit that the President has no clothes (or ethics, or intelligence, or a workable plan).

First, while they do have the presidency and majorities in both houses of Congress, they do not 'control' the Judiciary.

Second, even with majorities in Congress, there are still a sizeable number of liberal Republicans who vote more in line with the Democrats than the GOP.

Then you have the majority of the media being biased towards the Democrats [this has been proven numerous times - try http://www.mrc.org ] which colors the news, up to and including outright distortion and fabrication [Dan Rather's 'fake but accurate' Bush AWOL hit piece comes to mind].

With a slim majority in the Senate, upset by the liberal GOP senators, it is not like they can force anything through that does not have support of some liberals or Dems.

But you seem to be very eager to cast blame. Me, I never had much use for people who spend too much time 'blamestorming' or their opposites, being 'apologists'.

Didn't everyone in both houses except for 1 or 2 persons vote for the war? Weren't all these people voted into office by those who can vote them out if they are not happy. Are Republicans personally in Iraq and Afghanistan prosecuting the war, or is the US Military doing that? If we fail in our war on terror, you won't need your computer anymore to ask these well thought out questions about world affairs and politics . You will be evidently spending your time with 72 virgins.

The Republicans aren't in full control of everything. Don't you see all those democrats raising cain in Washington all the time. They all have a vote...it's just the Republicans are for protecting our country and its citizens. The Democrats are for protecting everybody else.

They will get the blame, however I don't believe they can honestly get 100% of it. There have been groups of people doing anything they can to help the U.S. lose the war. As much as it would kill them to admit it, they have some responsibility in it's success. If they succeed, it would be even more interesting if they got the credit...

Who else could you blame they lied their way into office as anti abortionist and I have not seen any anti-abortion bills. Not that I want any. they lied and said Kerry accused Solder's in Vietnam of Killing Baby's, I know that's a lie, I saw him testify he had never saw any American Solders kill any Baby's. But a lot of Ignorant people believe any thing they hear ,and Bush was counting on them to Vote. Blame goes to the Administration that did not have a exit plan, because they were not planning on ever exiting.

No.

Democratic Politicians, are responsible to point out good and bad points, and to use their power of reason which the Republicans lack, to convince the Republicans to do what is good and right.

Well, considering that they make all of the decisions, they take all the responsibility. You can't even blame the American public, since we didn't vote many of them in...at least not the administration!

Yes, but the Democrats still have the power to sabotage:
They stopped drilling in Anwr so gasoline prices stayed high.
They sabotaged the Patriot Act in order to help the terrorists.
They still have stopped our tax cuts from being permanent.
They have offered to surrender to the terrorists.
On and On..........
