We have a guy at work who is full of Puns and crazy sayings.. geez I thought I was safe here on Y/A but he has gotten to you. whatever you do, don't say "hi whats up" he has a million answers... they will haunt you... sshhh here he comes...

No, most people both speak and live in rhetoric. It's just habit and the mundane existence that cause these kinda things to be said. You'll never hear interesting people constantly repeating the words of others. They tend to think for themselves.

Yup. It's really NOT funny, but 9 times out of 10 they person saying it THINKS they're funny. You should just tell them you are declining answering that question. :0)
