Depends upon your religious belief. Some religions teach that the soul lives on but not your body. Others believe you are reborn in another body and get a chance to do it all over again.
What do you think?

Forever is a long time, but from physical point of view, nobody touches me until Rigor Mortis sets in!!!!!
What Happens next is any-body's guess, personally i like the Marty Hopkirk look! Although i was listening to the Radio this morning and there was a discussion on Spiritualist's and Mediums, the presenter asked the question why is it these people who are allegedly in contact with dead can never tell us what the other side is like?

Well, if you're dead, then you're dead. There ain't no forever for you anymore, because there's no you around to care one way or the other.
This does entail, unfortunately, that there is no 'next' - not for you personally, anyway. However, this doesn't mean that you won't acquire any sort of immortality. My grandmother died 15 years ago and I still think of her as an inspiringly decent and kind person. John Lennon died 26 years ago, and think how many people have been born since then who've discovered his music. Shakespeare died nearly 400 years ago and believe it or not, some people really love his plays. Jesus and Mohammed both died quite a long time ago, and a fair amount of people still remember them, or try to.
The trace you leave behind in the memories of people who knew you, or knew what you did, is the only immortality we will ever get to have. The fact that we won't be around to enjoy it is a pity, maybe, but there you go. Others will.

You could get scientific on this one.. using the first law of Thermodynamics, conservation of energy... which states that energy can be converted from 1 form to another, but cannot be created or destroyed.
If you then think of the film, "The Matrix" where humans were harvested for their bioelectricity...
The cycle of life and death is purely one of re-using energy, some is radiated away from the planet, some is ingested and re-ingested by other animals... throughout the food chain...
some creatures die in the sea and a long time later we are using their energy as petrol....
I think you can see where I'm going with this... furthermore, there are some who believe in genetic memory although this is controversial... but it would go some way to explaining how we can live forever after death... in many different forms.

Whether we are or not, as the Greek philosopher Epicurus (341-270 B.C.) said, death is not to be feared. For while we're alive we're (obviously) not dead, and when we're dead we're not aware of the fact... As for what happens next, there simply is no "next," at least not for us; we merely cease to exist, as will eventually the earth and the universe itself (but that's another topic). Getting back to Epicurus, the after-death "experience" is like the absence of pain you felt before you were born. The idea isn't terribly consoling, perhaps, but it's part of the existential condition. Humanity is cursed by being the only animal that knows it must die, but if we didn't know, would life really be worth living?

If we are dead forever nothing happens next, or if anything does happen it doesn't matter to the dead.
I believe that death is a part of life, an event we will all experience, and then life continues - changed but not ended.
However I believe that what happens after death is not dependent on my belief that it happens or not - whatever happens happens - to us all. Unless, of course, I am wrong and my belief in continuing life does influence what happens to me!

We are never dead at anytime. The body has a life expentancy that varies depending on the species, but the spirit soul that is giving life to the body never dies, we are eternal. What we call death is just another transformation of the material energy, the body we inhabit ceases to function and we leave it. In fact, the body is continually dying at every moment. Cells are continually replacing other cells in a constant stream of transformation. And every 7 years the whole body has undergone a complete transformation. But we witness these changes and we do not change. Our identity does not change. This is life beyond death. Death is in front of us, visible to our eyes, but we are beyond that, simply witnessing it. We do not die, we leave this body when its time is up and go on to another situation and another body according to our karma (actions and desires).
The material energy, a part of which is our body, is constantly in flux. Every moment the cells of our body are dying and being replaced so that every 7 years each and every cell has been replaced at least once. If we are the body, which body are we? By the time we're 50, we've had 7 completely different bodies, yet we know we're the same person despite all these changes. What is providing our constant identity? That is the spirit soul, the spiritual energy. If we are constantly changing our body in this life, what is the problem to accept that the unchanging, eternal soul can transmigrate into another body at death?
When we dream the mind travels to other places and engages in other activities. During the dream we think the dream body is real and those activities are real. But because the gross material body lying in bed is still viable, we have to come back to it again and resume that life. But when the gross body is no longer viable, our mind carries us to another womb in another mother, and we get another gross body from that mother. This is arranged by the material nature under the direction of the Supreme Lord.
Transmigration of the soul is going on in this life, what to speak of in the future. Its a simple thing anyone with a little thought can understand. Its not a religious belief, its reality. Everyone must get old and die, but because we are the spiritual energy within the body that doesn't die, we have to accept another body. Some say that what happens at death depends on your religion or philosophy. This is ridiculous. Everyone's body must die and everyone is eternal spirit soul, no matter their belief is, and therefore must leave the body and go to a new situation.
Proof of the existence of the soul, its past in other bodies, etc. is called self-realization. This implies that the realization or "proof" is self-evident or subjective in nature. When you become self-realized, you perfectly understand the nature of the self, the soul, but its an individual endeavor and the realization is revealed to the individual alone. In effect, the individual is the lab and his practice of spiritual realization is the experiment. If he/she is successful, then the proof is his realization.
When you eat a large meal the feeling of satisfaction is self-evident. You know you are satisfied, you don't need anyone else to tell you this, and likewise you aren't going to "prove" you are satisfied to someone else except by refusing to eat more. But if someone accuses you of lying about your condition and refuses to believe you, what can you do?
To insist that the spirit soul does not exist because it cannot be "proven" by the same processes of direct sense perception that are used in a lab, only reveals a lack of intelligence in the matter. Spirit by definition is transcendental to matter and therefore using our direct sense perception to perceive the soul is futile. Nevertheless, anyone who cares enough and is sincere enough, can devote him/herself to self-realization and see for themselves. It doesn't have to be blind faith. Do the work and find out for yourself.

There is only one guarantee in life & that is death - we'll never get out of this world alive....but once we are dead are we concious of being dead...I think there may be a conciousness in death and that we may be dead forever - or maybe we enter a parallel universe!! Whatever our faith or beliefs are - there is one thing for sure - WE WILL ALL FIND OUT ONEDAY!!! be happy x

I truly believe that nobody ever dies forever. Your body perishes and becomes one, again, with the earth, but your soul lives on forever. Have you ever heard the phrase, "...[insert name] is an old soul."? I believe that the soul is reincarnated into a new body, given new lessons to learn, and another chance to resolve any problems from their past life or lives.
