I know this stems from way back when but today I still see alot of light skined people that think because of that they are better than darker blacks. Even i slavery they got to stay in the house while we went into the fields. Not all act this way but some do.

I totally hear ya, girl! I too, am dark-skinned and I have heard the comments. One that floors me every time is "You're pretty, for a dark-skinned girl." WTF? Society has made it that way...you hit the nail right on the head though when you mention what was happening back in slavery days; that's a part of what's kept it going on. Even when you watch a music video, look at the amout of light-skinned girls compared to dark-skinned? You can count the darker women on one hand. It's a bit sad that we are all one people but we hate on our own.

I embrace my skin colour. I'm old enough now that I have learned that people who still think that way are just ignorant and need to put others down, even in their own race, just to feel better about themselves.

Love yourself, and embrace your dark skin.

I think the lighter ones rock racial superiority over the darker blacks basically for what you had stated before; they get treated differently. The skin tone is far closer to white than someone darker than they are (of course), so they can feel as if they're a part of a majority, even though they're actually part of a minority within a minority.

That probably makes no sense what I just said...

It seems to me that they feel unaccepted by both whites and blacks in some way. Obviously, they relate more to being black, but still not fully accepted. I knew a mixed race girl that joined a Black Student group in school and was not openly welcome by some of the other students. As if they were saying "you're not THAT black."
I think if your feeling that someone is acting "better than" you it may just stem from a defense mechanism that was built by some people not accepting them...

I could be way off.

Well I don't really know why....but nobody should think they are superior of anyone or another race. But if you think about it maybe a personality because some people just think they are better then others. It's like that with dark headed women and blonde's or Pretty/ugly people. The list goes on. People are just that way I guess. Who know.

Being a 36 12 months old woman and having long given up my dream of having a fairer dermis tone. apart from my age, i'm of African-American lineage and function dark spots on my eyebrows and cheeks. They have been the reason for years of embarrassment because of the fact people continuously regarded and stared at them! I even have tried make-united statesto cover them up yet they no longer often worked. once I got here upon this product and view the testimonials, I on the instant made my purchase and tried your distinctive attitude. some days later, i'm because of the fact my dermis is already getting whiter which further a clean point of self belief in my character.. Whiten Your dermis needless to say?

you know it does stem from slavery.....and unfortunately it is still alive and well today.....without making this a long and drawn out essay.......The fact is the world gives praises to lighter skin....and SOME people of color not just blacks feel superior when they are closer to white.....Case in point bleaching creams in Africa, the Caribbean and India.......We still have a long way to go.

I have some fine a*s light skin guys in my neighborhood and they're not snooty at all! I find that the dark black brotha's with the dreads or bald head with the bangin bodies think that they are all that. Most women in my neighborhood love those dark men. I personally go in the opposite direction. I do white or cream. But the options are out there. 1st of all, you never let a man think that he's all that in your face! I got men bowing at my feet Ms. Thing! Everything in my case is quite the opposite. You know why? Because I let them know that I AM THE BOMB, AND THAT EVERYONE ELSE IS MERELY A FIRECRACKER! And the eat that sh/t up! You don't have to be conceded! Just be confident!

It's just another form of racism. I think racism is ignorant to begin with, but to be even MORE racist against your own race is just plain stupid! You are right though, there are a lot of light skinned blacks who think they are superior to dark skinned blacks.
