President of Pakistan has today revealed in New York that Richard Armitage (***. CIA Director) threatened to 'Bomb Pakistan back to the Stone Ages' if they did not co-operate after 9/11.

The real truth is coming out now. Surprised our friends aren't really our friends.

I do not care who they are, or what terms we are with them. As a Gobal Nation you never make a comment about ruining another nation. Pakistan is not the only nation that did not co-operate, and who is he to say everyone is to co-operate with us.

Pakistan's cooperation after 9/11 was by no means a certainty. It appeared possible at the time that the Pakistani government, like the Afghani, might refuse to turn over Al Qaeda members in their territory, which would certainly have resulted in military action against them as it did against Afghanistan. You have confused the timeline and forgotten the state of our relations with Pakistan at the time of the attacks, apparently because misunderstanding the situation fits better with your personal beliefs on the matter. Although satisfying to you personally, your depiction of events is false and distorted.

That is not how you treat anyone, let alond an ally. Treating people with respect and dignity opens real diplomatic channels and encourages people to be allies. It also sets a good example so that the world sees us as a humane, respectful, good nation and would want to be more like us. Being bullies makes everyone want to avoid being anything like us.

By the way, mel...it was not Richard Armitage that leaked Plame's name. Scooter Libby leaked it, Cheney gave the order, and Bush is now saying that he told Cheney to do so. Armitage was appointed by Bush and has always done whatever the administration told him to do.

Richard Armitage leaked Valerie Plame's name too. He's no ally off the Bush Administration, as he failed to step forward. As for Pakistan, it's better that they are cooperating. We threatened to bomb a lot of people into the stone age if they didn't cooperate. That is hardly news.

This world is made up of incredible people. Some are unkind and some are very learned. It is unfortunate that because we do not share the same thought processes that persons feel we must kill one another. Muslims must kill infindels? A non muslim. What is this logic? Is the quran a book of hatred or of religious tolerance. If this is what the world is reading because of what reason do you feel this book is legitimate. A prophet some one who spoke of god . Pakistan is an ally but persons are persons we need to differiate the persons who are extremists.

For the twister of facts:
The twisting of facts sure does seem rampant in here. Aramitage came forward and stated (in public) that he was responsible for the leak. Where do you get your information from.. Libby was caught lying.. his only involvement with the leak. If you are going to use names, at least get your facts straight. Most everyone involved in this case knew he was the leaker but it surely didn't slow down the investigation.. they wanted to pin this on Cheney or Bush.. another failed attempt.

Pakistan has become a valuable friend.. relative to terrorists.. regardless of how they became friends.. I have not been privy to the revelation you present, so am not able to accept it as factual. It seems to have been overlooked by the media... and that would surely be front page news, of every paper involved in discrediting Bush and his administration.

At least Pakistan got the chance to look good for a while instead of getting blasted back to the stone ages.

Anyone who thinks Pakistan is an ally needs to wake up.

ANY Country that ends with a stan can't be trusted. They are all easily swayed through force of power or money.

If Pakistan was an ally we would have Osama by now.

You thought Pakistan was a friend? Whatever it takes. Why do people think that these counties ar our friends?
We can't keep ignoring the fact that, these countries harbor bin nutjob and many just like him.
If they are not with us, they are against us.
