and if so, does anyone ever "inspect" the facilities here in the US and in Israel? And has it ever been suggested that the US discontinue its pursuit of WMD's?

and if NOT, why not? for both questions?

Vince: You're silly.Might I remind you that this is a Q&A. We do not dictate foreign policy here; in fact, we do not dictate any kind of policy. In that respect, I have asked a legitimate question. It appears it is YOU who have made a "blind assumption" NOT I.
You equivocate by asking me:
"What would inspections of US facilities prove? That we HAVE fissionable materials? OF COURSE we have fissionable materials, and the technology to create more. That is how we can make newer bombs to replace the older bombs."

Hummm "what would it prove?" you ask. Well then; we gave Israel phosporous munitions in their war with Hezzbollah. Hundreds killed. Innocents.
We used white phosporous munitions in Fallujah. Hundred or more killed. Innocents.
We used sabot during invasion of Iraq. Thousands killed.Innocents.
What other type weapons do we have?
What gives US right to use unconventional illegal weapons?
The question remains unansered
WHO INSPECTS?
How often?
Got it?

The US and Israel do not pay attention to international agreements - that is one of the primary reasons so few like or trust us.

We want to hold Saddam's feet to the fire, but never Israel's or our own.

Bush is trying to overturn US law (passed by Repubs in 1996) that makes him a war criminal for his actions.

There is some irony in the Repubs inadvertently putting the noose around their own President's neck.

Stupid is as stupid does.

You may have missed the point of the non proliferation act. The entent is to prevent the spread of nuclear weapons. The US has never denied having nuclear weapons. We have, suppossedly promised not to sell the technology to other nations.

What would inspections of US facilities prove? That we HAVE fissionable materials? OF COURSE we have fissionable materials, and the technology to create more. That is how we can make newer bombs to replace the older bombs.

And yes, it is always in question, about whether the US should continue ITS pursuit of WMD's. Some of the most vocal critics of this country's weapons research are people of concience within the US.

Be careful in making blind assumptions when you pose such a question. And before you deny it, you can see you clearly did when you asked "why not? for both questions.

The US has signed the Non-Proliferation Treaty, and in much world opinion has breached the terms of the treaty by failing to take adequate steps towards disarmament, which is the payoff the nuclear states promised to make in return for all the non-nuclear states promising not to acquire weapons.

Israel never signed the treaty, and we all know why - they were rushing to get weaponised as fast as they could.

And yes, hypocrisy sucks.

Yes we both are. To my knowledge, no there are no international inspections at our plants, etc. And yes it has, but the Pentagon doesn't want to listen.

I don't know why there aren't inspectors at our weapons plants, and I am not completely sure that there aren't. And I really don't know why America is allowed to persue a WMD program at all....
