My mother purchased a car for my sister to drive for work and sis agreed to pay notes & insurance. (1st mistake...) My sister then stiffed her on the agreed monthly payments for 6 months, and failed to cover the car with full-coverage insurance...Guess next!
New car, uninsured & now totalled. As an added bonus, my sister used the tollway without the proper tag and ran up $2600 in camera fines running the EZTAG lanes. The authorities are telling my mother she is responsible because the plates comeback in her name. My mother cannot go to jail for something my sister did! She is elderly, and lives over 80 miles from the occurances. What can we do??? Please anyone with good advice, Help me keep my Mother out of jail!

get a lawyer, have your mother sue your sister and when all is said and done, beat the holy crap out of your sister

She can get a lawyer, but legally she is still required to pay the fine because it is legally her car. Hopefully she has a credit card she can pay the $2,600 with. She could take your sister to court and have her wages garnished for the money owed (camera fees and auto loan payments).

That's a terrible mess she's in. and now her credit is going to be ruined if she stops paying the auto loan on the car (that is still not paid off & totalled).

in the beginning, make constructive the government understand the actual subject. If mandatory, are you able to ask your interior reach political representative to help in this? 2nd, it form of feels out of your question that your sister is unwilling or no longer able to take in her household initiatives. Do you have the different siblings or close kinfolk - are you able to've a relatives convention and peer-rigidity your sister into attempting to repair this? i assume the final hotel is getting your mom to inform your sister that she will regulate her will and go away your sister's element of her assets to a cat's homestead....

Speak with a lawyer. You can probably work out some kind of payment plan with EZ-Pass. Regarding your sister, take her to court.

Wow, your sister is truly a heartless uncaring woman.

BUt your options are very limited....get a loan for the 2600$ and no long have any dealings with that sister.

Tell your mom to take ur sister to COURT! Usually a small claims court is easier to settle disputes like this. ! Good luck!
*Also if ur sister signed ANYTHING? in which I doubt... u should tell ur mom to better prepare for stuff like this if she does it again... cuz u never know... I make ppl sign whatever I do... like my last landlord asked us for a PAPER stating our one month notice, so I requested she sign one for ME stating she got the notice... that way she couldn't screw us and take us to court for a supposeable MISSED RENT... (she was screwy like that)... but yeah... definately GO TO COURT! Worth a try.
