shakespeare always makes a good impression, try a monologue from hamlet. aside from being my favourite it will be easy to get notes on the internet for anything from hamlet too. I like Act 1 scene 2 (lines 129-159), where hamlet talks about his father's death & his mothers marriage to his uncle, but the famous one (the 'to be or not to be' one) is Act 3 Scene 1, lines 56-90. Or you could be a bit out of the ordinary & use Claudius' monologue from Act 3 Scene 3, lines 36- 72, when Claudius attempts to pray.

How about The Taming of the Shrew, that has some long and surprisingly funny monologues. It's a shakespeare I think but not too sure.

I always do monologues from Saturday Night Live. Find an episode that you really like and get the monologue.

There are several sites that list monlogues and sort them by the age and sex of the person who delivers them.
Try http://www.monologuearchive.com/ to start with, but there are many others.

My old MONOLOG... was for my DRAMA class... I used:
" from Yesteday's News (1981) - Peter Barnes " ... I used the character Anna... great monolog... I had to shorten it and re-read it aloud to my class and put all the "EXCITEMENT" and what nots into it.. it was great to read aloud and become "someone else" for a lil while.
