I agree with you on that. There are a lot of shallow and ignorant people. I am not like that whatsoever. I have all types of friends, some who dress gothic, some who dress as if they are in a hip hop video, etc. Image is not important, its whats inside, but of course there are people out there that judge you. And the fact of the matter is they will never change unless they are open minded.

People like to judge, look at Pop Idle, Maria, How do you solve a problem like LLoyd Webber etc on TV.
You think the piercings look cool, I think of when a spiral of swarf curled into my finger sending me to casualty pronto.
How do you play Trumpet with a ring through your lip.
Is not a set of facial piercings and "different" dress the means by which perverts recognise Prostitutes these days?

Welcome to my world. Although I don't have ink, or dress like everyone else, I am quick to be judged by my appearance. As we should all know looks are deceiving. Take heart that I do not judge others appearance, but look inside a person, to see why they feel the way that they do. I have been blessed with so many friendships because I accept others for what they are, not what they wear. So don't let them rain on you. You're alright in my book!

Because they don't like themselves. It's much easier to judge someone else than fix what's wrong with yourself. Fear of the new and unknown. Some don't like change, and if one little thing in their world is out of order, or not the way they see it, they hate. Ask the next person that does that to you and see what their answer is. Ask nicely, and don't accuse. Even if they don't have an answer, it will make them think.

People who don't know you only have first impressions to go on. Some style of dress is intimidating to some people, but if you are as nice as you say you are then worthwhile people will see the person within, those who don't are not worth bothering with as they are people who only feel comfortable with those that are like themselves, making them narrow minded and bigotted.

This is a great saying I once heard:
"If you must judge, then judge that the person should be doing exactly what they are doing. And if you must give advice, then advise the person to do what they want to do. In this way you will let go of trying to control others and you will be able to concentrate on improving yourself without distraction."

Its not so much judging as it is stereotyping....all folks with tatts and piercings musy be trouble.
All bikers musy be in drunken motorcycle gangs.
AND so forth.
Jusy look at them and smile a big smile nod and say hi whatever. They will eventually start to feel like an idiot, and realize just how wrong they were. You never know you may make a new friend.

The ones who judge are just too immature to make a decision based on getting to know someone.
Being disabled (yes, I know I keep saying this) I have had this at first hand. Most women don't want to know me. Its not just because I am ugly, I have seen women talk to ugly men before, but I think its because I walk slightly differently to most people.
Don't worry about people like that, its their loss.

its just human nature unfortunately. we all get misjudged at some point and its very frustrating. They don't know you, so they may feel intimidated, and think they have nothing in common with you. A good way to meet people is on the Internet. I'm not sure in what context people judging you is bothering you.however if its to meet a partner. i can recommend love@lycos. you do meet some nice people, so if ya did meet someone, you chat, text and get to know someone, meeting them is just the icing on the cake.

I think it has a lot to do with how our society is. For most people, their primary sense is sight, so they judge people visually. Because they do not wish to get any closer to people (fear, social barriers), they never discover anything more. However, in my experience, there are other ways of looking at people.
I'm a martial artist, and generally we don't say we know someone until we have physical contact with them (i.e. sparring etc).
The actress Beryl Reid used to say that she did not have her character correct until she was wearing the correct shoes!
Blind people like to touch, too. I think you are right, though. We are obsessed with our eyes.
