To pick the best it's lyrically, there impact throughout there own career and in hip-hop. Like lyrically Biggie was better then Pac but Pac had songs that impact us the most which is why they pick him. JUst read the thing on MTV then holla at my question.

10 Kool G Rap -- sure didn't have mass appeal but his lyrics were excellent...even with a lisp
9 Ice Cube -- the best lyricist on a ground-breaking group. Singlehandedly brought the West Coast into the scene
8 ATCQ (A Tribe Called Quest)--yeah, I know they're a group but their beats, creativity, lyrics and overall style make them premier
7 LL -- yeah, he had some real misses but his total body of work, diversity and staying power...he's one of the best for the longest period of time
6 Eminem -- the best storyteller in rap after Biggie. Can paint a sharp picture and a mix of humor and gulliness. Blew up on the scene and never looked back
5 Pac -- I'm sure everybody is screaming, "Pac is the best!" Have you actually listened to his lyrics? Never mind the whole package, I'm talking strictly verbal skills. He's great; one of the greatest but my top 4 are just better
4 Nas -- his first album may be the most complete ever. Each track a certified hit. Listen to "One Love." Sheer genius.
3 Rakim -- the man before his time. Put up any of his rhymes against anyone and more than likely, he's winning. "Microphone Fiend" is the hard and the amazing thing...it's only one verse!!
2 B.I.G. If Bigg had lived he would be the nicest that ever lived. He had only a few albums and people will play his songs forever. He's Hip-Hop's Bob Marley or Elvis.
1 Jay-Z Everytime you listen to his rhymes you pick up something new. A little history: Jay didn't want to be a rapper. He started out a DJ for Original Flavor and always wanted to be a producer. He made a deal with Def Jam that they'd give him a label but he had to give them 7 albums. What did he do? One a year...without writing them down. His analogies and similes are unbelievable. He can rhyme about anything and make it witty. If Jay-Z is on a song, it's a hit. Period!

You really can't argue with this list because the top 3 artist are interchangeable. I would have Pac as # 1 though. 2pac was such an incredible artist that at times he would have you believing in things that totally went against what you believed. I think the whole thug image is really wack, but when I pop in a Pac CD, I'm less inclinded to believe this. I'd also replace Em and Big Daddy Kane with Andre 3000 and Scarface. Thats my opinion though.

Okay I agree that LL Cool J, Eminem, Ice Cube, Nas, Biggie, and Pac should be on there but If they are gonna put some old school rappers on ther then they should add Run DMC, Hammer, SirMixalot, Will Smith(can't forget about the fresh Prince) Wu-Tang Clan, Bone Thugs & Harmony etc...Im not a big fan of Jay-Z but I do like some of his older songs.

I don't completely agree with your list. What about female hip hop artists. Like Janet Jackson, Pattie Labelle, Chaka Khan, Aretha Franklin. And on this list, in my mind 2 Pac was the greatest artists of all time. So why is he #2 to Jay-Z. Pac is #1.

These are for the most part all different styles of hip-hop or rap, so its hard to say who is better, eminem should not be number 9, should be at least 3rd on the list. and LL cool J may be in the top 25.
