I took the PS2 apart and broke the ribbon wire

LOL been there, done that! I found a game place in the mall and they fixed mine for me. It didn't cost a lot either. They even fixed my old Nintendo original!

yes your ribbon was broken so you got 2 choices u can try to reconnect it or buy a new 1.

I suggest that you buy a new PS2 or wait for the PS3
