Need help wit RAZR V3C (Telus)?

Question

I have motorola phone tools 4.04 i want to get a ringtone on my phone.....i tried mp3, polyphonic ringtones,mid, midi, wav, all less than 30 secs long and less than 100kb in size...i can upload them to my phone but i cant apply them as ringtones....i also tried creating my own ringtone with mpt 4.04 with melody studio....same thing i can upload but cant apply as a ringtone.....someone please!! give me a straight answer....i dont need no files and no viruses....i just need an answer on how to make my phone work!!

try transfering it to the phones memory and not the card
