Sicilians' anscestors were Greeks, Arabs and North Africans. They happen to be dark-skinned peoples.
Why are you so self-obsessed?

Most Italians , especially from any of the regions south of Rome, are not generally "marshmallow white", or "pink", or freckly and pale. It's simply because of generations and generations of living (and often working outside) in a land that's geographically much closer to the warmer parts of the Earth, such as North Africa, the Levant, etc. They call the areas from south of Rome the "mezzogiorno"; "land of the midday sun".
Plus there were repeated Saracen (North African Muslim) incursions and occupations which happened, reaching not only through Sicily but all the way up into what is today called Molise region. I was to Italy last summer and visited my significant other's ancestral village in that rural and little known region, and we saw the remains of the "Toretta Saracenas" (Saracen "turrets") still standing there amidst the mountains and rocks and ruins today, amidst tiny villages, where some of the inhabitants look more classic "Roman", and some look more distinctly "Middle Eastern".
Almost everything south of Rome was called "Kingdom of Two Sicilies" , and some area were called "Papal States", at that time in history, when the Saracens came, centuries prior to the unification of Italy in the 19th century. The people are generally "olive"- hued or "tan", varying in degrees of course from person to person. It's the very same as one heads south and eventually arrives on the island at the toe of the boot; modern Sicilia. In there you'll find alot of olive or tan skinned "brunettes" to be sure, but there are also natural blondes there too (don't forget that not only did the Moors hold the south, but so did the Normans from northern Europe).

A different kind of white. Pink is like red heads or pale blondes. Sicilians are olive skin tone. Not all whites are marshmallow. Just like there are different shades of black or red and any other race.

you are Mediterranean and people from your part of Europe are usually tan. why do you keep asking questions like this? are you ashamed of the way you look? white people have different skin tones. be happy and accept yourself the way you are.
