For the same reason when you get in trouble at home and start to laugh your parents ask whats so funny. They are being serious and something has struck you funny. They are trying to teach you there is an right and wrong time to laugh.

The teacher is asking you a direct question, to which most teenagers in their infinite wisdom (pun intended), and immaturity will NOT answer.
Sure, you'll laugh, thinking you seem "all that", to you're equally immature friends that were in on the joke that most teens don't have the "cojones" to repeat. Why won't they? That in itself gives grown ups the answer to your maturity level...

Perhaps your outburst of laughter disrupted the lecture which is the tool they use to teach. The teacher is making a point about immature, rude, disruptive behavior.

Because they are not smart enough to get a real job. The A students always end up working for the C students because they did not have the balls to take a risk in life.

The more serious the class, the more I used to get the urge to laugh inappropriately. In nursing school, one instructor told me I was not to smile in her class! Bah! humbug!!

Maybe paranoid, or maybe no sense or humor or maybe just showing you that he/she is in authority. On the good side, they may want to share in the participation. Try sharing with the teacher.

i know like me im constanly laughed all through school N i used to hate when they would be like Ms. ortiz do think somethings funny N i would say no then i would keep laughing

I like that question.....and don't have any answer except that in school you ought to be disciplined...but whats the harm in laughing...that makes kids easy up stress...

Because they are upset and want the whole class to turn to you and eye you up to make you feel like a tiny bit of s**t a** for disturbing her class.
