i bought a 94 z28 camaro 2 weeks ago. i changed the oil the other day and it ran fine for a couple of days on the highway it lost oil pressure and power. i set it in the driveway to wait for a mechanic to fix it and it had oil pressure the next morning. but when it warms up it loses it, it still has loss of power when it is cold with oil pressure. I think it is the oil pump going out but im not sure because i dont know why that would cause it to have loss of power.

The engine is worn out. There is excessive wear on the bearings when the oil is cool it is thicker and the oil pump is capable of building pressure, as the oil heats up it gets thinner and begins to flow more easily out of the crankshaft assembly creating the loss of oil pressure.

The loss of power is a direct result of the loss of oil pressure. the valve are opened by hydraulic lifters that rely on oil pressure to open the valves fully, because the valves aren't opening fully the cylinders are receiving a reduced intake charge and is not capable of producing as much power.

Eventually you will have to replace at least the short block assembly but if you drive it like grandma it will last for many miles if not you'll eventually throw a rod.

first of all check your oil .make sure they didn't forget to put the drain plug back in or the filter not on tight.if none of those are not causing it then it sounds like you need a new oil pump.also check and see if your oil cap is on and your dipstick was put back in.believe it or not they forget some of those things after you have your oil changed.
