a lot of companies make Octave pedals. Boss, Danelectro, etc... get down to your local guitar store and take them all for a test drive!

You don't need a pedal for this effect, chum! Use the following methods to sound cool and save some cash.

Let's say the strings are numbered 6 to 1 - from the top of the guitar to the bottom.

Use your first finger to play fret 5 on string 6.
Now use your ring finger to play fret 7 on string 4.
Both these notes are the same - A - an octave apart.
Want an even higher note?
Play string 1 at fret 5 with your index finger.
Now play string 4 at fret 7 with your ring finger.
Again, your playing the same note (A) an octave apart.

You should try other combinations of strings for octaves or other harmonies.

Famous players using this technique: Richie Sambora in the rock world, Wes Montgomery in Jazz.

You need an audio frequency, frequency doubler. They aren't too difficult to make for someone who has done some electronics. Take a look at what Maplin have. they have stuff like that on sale a lot. I missed a USB mixer on sale £40 off not long ago - hope it comes up again. plug that in my laptop and I have a mobile recording studio.
