Usually, when leaving a building and people are behind me, I'll pass them the door - so to speak, but if they have kids or a stroller, or are older, I'll hold the door open while they walk through. I'd say 50% of the time, I don't even get a thank you FROM THE ADULTS - like I'm the freakin' door monitor.
Happen to you?
Ever feel like you shoulda' dropped it in their faces? Easy to do since they walk through with their hands at their sides like they're royalty....
Arrrggh frustrating.

I always hold the door for one or two or even several persons, but if there's a steady stream of people, it's maddening if someone else doesn't take a turn for awhile so I don't have to trail behind my own group. The lack of thank yous makes it even more frustrating, although most people will say it. If people don't say thank you, I ususally mumble "you're welcome" under my breath. (Shame on me, I know it) Most people, myself included, enjoy being courteous, but it is nice to be at least slightly appreciated. When there is a flood of people coming, I start to let the the door shut in my hand just a little , very courteously, of course, and start to move toward the doorway so it's clear "I'm leaving, somebody had better take over"

i see that a lot, when my hubby does that and i am with him i will make it a point to thank him for them and myself which he also opens the door for. and i make sure that the person hears me.(the one who did not say thank you) then i teach my boys the proper thing to do (open the door) and the proper way to act (thank someone for opening the door)

From the bottom of my heart, I personally thank you for being that person that has enough civility and manners to open a door for someone. THANK YOU

Yeah thats happened to me a lot especially in college! I hate that! I know when someone is polite enough to hold the door for me I always say thanks! Geez some people are soooo rude!
