They may even beat Michigan on Saturday. And even THEN, they still won't get voted into the top 20. Barry Alvarez faced the respect problem for 12 years. Now they have a new coach that will face the same problem. Alvarez had to win the Big 10 a few times just to prove his point. And a couple of Rose Bowls. And the bowl last season in which they whupped Auburn. For some reason the Badgers just don't get the attention that Ohio State and Michigan does. And that is Ok. Just keep on winning. And sooner or later the fans will take notice.

Winning the national championship should have no bearing on how much respect the football program gets in following years. The teams consist of totally different players. Respect should not necessarily carry over the next season simply because a different group of players won the title the year before. a good program is a good program whether or not you win the title. And a good coach is a good coach. Period.

Wisconsin, like most other colleges and universities, get the shaft because the BCS rankings are a bunch of BS!!!!!! Please remember that the rankings and polls are created by people who don't know **** about college football in the first place. They ought to set up the BCS like the NFL is set up and get the best out of each division and let them fight it out in playoff format with the two left standing playing in the championship game. They have a college world series, well now it is time we had college SUPER BOWL!!!!!!! Who's with me on this????

Good question. I'm guessing it's because when you talk about BCS and AP rankings you're talking about opinions. There are certain schools that you can guarantee will be in the Top 25 every year, and I'm sure that a lot of the voters have their "favorite" teams that they vote for over and over again, even if their team loses (did you notice Notre Dame didn't drop out of the Top 25 after Michigan destroyed them?). Wisconsin just isn't one of those schools that's high on the popularity list. Doesn't mean the Badgers aren't a good team; it just means the voters are more preoccupied with the USCs and Auburns and Ohio States and Michigans -- that is, until one of those teams goes down at the hands of an unranked team...

P.S.: Having said that, GO BLUE!!!

Since 2000 and not counting this season....records

Wisconsin 48 - 27 so they are +21 in wins

Ohio State 58 - 18 +40 in wins

Michigan 53 - 21 +32 wins

Fairly close to Michigan but no where close to OSU.

Maybe that's why

Weak non-conference schedule, and little tradition of winning football (for example, coming into this year, they were 575-451-53, but are 11-47-1 against Michigan, 17-50-5 against Ohio State, and also have losing records vs. Illinois, Iowa, Michigan State, and Minnesota).

Because it's Wisconsin. Wisconsin has a bad name EVERYWHERE! Get used to it. Some of us remember the year that they were undefeated FOREVER, and still couldn't get a seat at the table... It took them most of the year to get the credit they deserved. They had the tools, and yet they couldn't get noticed. 'Nuff said.
